Yes it is true. It was in England or somewhere where they drive on the opposite side of the road.Did Matthew Broderick kill someone in a auto accident years ago? It was in a bar trivia game. Is this true?
Yes, in Ireland.

In 1988, Matthew was in a serious car accident in Ireland. He was driving with actress Jennifer Grey when he lost control of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic. They hit an oncoming car, killing two people, Anna Gallagher, 28, and her mother Margaret Dougherty, 60. Broderick was hospitalized for two months. When the matter went to court, the judge reduced the charge to careless driving and fined the actor a mere $175 fine. The family of the deceased were outraged.

Broderick met actress Jennifer Grey on the set of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In August 1987, she was with him as he drove on a rain-slicked road on the outskirts of Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Broderick drove his BMW 316 head-on into another car carrying 63-year-old Margaret Doherty and her 30-year-old daughter Anna Gallagher; both women were killed. Broderick had to be cut out of the car; he suffered facial lacerations and a broken thigh. Grey escaped with minor injuries. Broderick had no memory of the event and Grey was distracted at the moment of the accident, changing audio tapes and seeing nothing. The lack of witnesses, skid marks, or other evidence led Broderick to plead guilty in absentia on February 15, 1988 to the lesser charge of careless driving. He was fined 拢100. [1]

In America, when asked about his trip to the North of Ireland, Broderick, recalling the ordeal says he would like to put the experience behind him. ';My leg was broken';, he says, ';I was badly messed up. I have no desire to be more badly hurt. I don't feel that I need to have more misfortune or that anything bad has to happen to me to pay for this. I can say it's over, and I'm really glad it's over. I want to go on.';
Yes, an older woman in Ireland. He probably had difficulty with driving on the left side of the road.
